Spin Cycle--The Big Picture

There are times when life bogs us down in the little things.  We get so caught up in the small stuff that we can miss the big picture.  A little like not seeing the forest for the trees. The busy run around life that raising two boys and running a house and working full time gives me can rally make me lose sight of the bigger picture.
Nick and I have a sure fire way of taking a step back and slowing down and really taking in the bigger picture.  We head for the hills and take a drive.   Getting out in nature, bumbling down a dirt road, getting a bit of mud on the tires is our way to reconnect, relax, and let the small stuff fall away, if only for a little while.

I loved having a toddler around the house, because they reintroduced me to the wonder of the most mundane things.  Every thing is interesting when you are seeing it for the first time. This encouraged me to really look around and see the beauty that is around me all the time, but that I take for granted, because I've seen it before and don't take the time to look now.

I do believe that as a family, some of our best times have happened outside, either in our backyard, or up in the mountains.  I hope that our boys develop a love of doing things outside, even if the video games do exert a call on them.  So far they have been able to entertain themselves when we go camping fairly effectively.
What do you do to see the Big Picture.  Spin it up and link up with Ginny!

  3. I love all of your outdoor adventures. And I miss those toddler days too. Though these tween days are pretty eye-opening too!
