Randomized

Let's get just a little bit random today.
  • We have had a run of very nice weather recently.  Just about all the ice has melted away.  It's been in the 50s during the day and sunny.  Yes, we have had some wind but still, warm weather for us.  That all ends tomorrow.  We will be getting snow again.  Not sure how much.  Could be an inch, could be a foot. Weather is so fun in it's unpredictability.
  • Turbo gets to start swimming next week for the junior high/middle school.  Yeah, since this is the first year that 9th grade has been part of the high school here, the former junior high is now a middle school--I think.  It's all rather murky.  Anyway, Turbo and swimming.  He's excited. I'm sort of excited.  Mom's taxi gets to go into service.  It's really good that Nick likes to cook, and he's quite good at it too.
  • Tax time.  We do our taxes tonight. Shouldn't be scary, but it's kind of like going to the principal's office for adults isn't it?
  • Freya has been fitting in well.  She loves Thullee.  Really, really loves him. He's less sure of her, but since all his experience of cats was mostly them telling him to stay away at claw point, it's understandable that he's confused by this little cat that wants to cuddle.
  • Bruiser is in swimming lessons again.  He had to start out in level 3 again (about his 4th time in level 3) but on the second lesson he moved up to level 4.  He was so excited to move up. I had told him he wouldn't be in level 3 for very long.  He was less than thrilled about going to lessons, but he's all excited about them now. I'm just happy he's swimming.
  • I've been finding my mojo, motivation, or whatever again.  I've been cooking more, Nick and I have been doing more things both together and separately.  It's been good.
  • Nick started snow biking.  He has always been a fan of biking, most especially mountain biking, he raced when he was younger.  He had a friend finally convince him to try snow biking and he fell in love with it.  So much so he bought a bike to do it with. (He only rented the bike to try it first) So now Nick is the proud owner of three bikes: the old hard tail mountain bike, the full suspension mountain bike and the snow bike.

So hopefully the weather is good where you are this week!

Valentines

Happy Valentines Day!  No really, Happy Valentines!! I know there are those who hate this "holiday" but I like it.  Little kids trade silly cards and candy, I got to have a great dinner with my hubby and the boys Sunday as an early celebration of the fact that Nick and I have spent 23 Valentines together.

We got together on February 26 1993.  So our first Valentines was February 1994.  Seems so very long ago.  Just about 24 years together. Longer together than not together. Now that is pretty cool I think.

Bruiser had a bit of a sore throat yesterday so we spent the day at home doing what we do when the kids are sick.  We watch Big Bang Theory.  Nothing like a dose of Sheldon and the gang to help one feel better.

The ice has just about melted off here.  It's nice, but I know we have more snow coming.  We get the most snow in the "spring" around here.   I'm kind of looking forward to the spring snow.  It's messy, but doesn't last very long.

Here's hoping everyone has a wonderful day!!

Monday Stinks

Especially the Monday after the Superbowl. Even more so when my hated companion Insomnia comes to visit.  I didn't even drink that much yesterday.  It stinks.

My feelings on Monday.

And on to other things.  We had a relatively busy weekend.  Nick and I got to have a late lunch on Friday.  Sort of like a date. It was really nice.
Saturday morning Nick took the boys ice fishing, but it was really windy so they didn't stay long.  Bruiser did manage to hook a fish before the packed up to come home though.  It got off the hook as he got it up to the hole to pull it out of the water.  He wants to try again though, so that's good.
The rest of Saturday was kind of just bumming around.  I did make bison burgers for dinner with some bison burger that was given to us.  They were delicious.
Sunday Nick went cross country skiing with a friend and then he took the boys to shoot archery.  In the afternoon we headed to our cousins house for Superbowl fun.  The food was awesome, the commercial disappointing and the game so-so.  Not the biggest football fan here so I had no real investment in either team. It was interesting to see history made with the overtime though.

So that was our weekend in a nut shell.  Some go and some relax and I'm not quite ready to be back at it this morning.  Was your weekend better?

Eight

Bruiser turned eight last weekend.  EIGHT!! I really need to stop blinking, time just whizzes past when I do.  It seems like just yesterday that he was tiny, new and such a cuddle bug.

Now.  Now he is an opinionated, stubborn, talkative, Pokemon obsessed, Batman loving, Youtube watching, mock sword/nerf gun fighting eight year old. He likes riding his bike.  He likes camping and kayaking. He loves four wheeling. He is a trooper when we go skiing.  He just trucks along with non stop babble falling from his mouth.
Bruiser has discovered music, as in 80 rock.  He likes Poison and Bon Jovi. He loves the song My House by Flo Rida.  Radioactive by Imagine Dragons is another favorite. He has been having fun finding music on Amazon Prime.
He is a very picky eater as far as anything remotely spicy is concerned.  He hates potatoes, except for french fries and mom's home fries.  He adores chicken nuggets, fish sticks and corndogs.  He has found that he likes potstickers and rice with soy sauce (a blessing for when we want to order chinese). The only pizza he will eat is cheese. A rather bland choice, but we have hopes his tastes will improve as he gets older. The kid will eat any kind of pork put in front of him.  He eats chicken just as well.  Not a huge fan of beef, but likes steak.

I love my little man.  He drives his brother nuts (just like any little brother is supposed to) but they do get along fairly well. It will be a wonderful adventure finding out where he goes from here.  Here's wishing eight treats you well Bruiser!!
