Pour Your Heart Out--Procrastination

I'm a procrastinator.  I'll put anything off until the last minute if I can.  Projects, buying gifts for birthday parties, sending out cards--all things I'll postpone until they absolutely have to be done.
But at the same time I will do chores quickly to get them done.  Dishes, laundry, cleaning anything--I just put my head down and get it done.  I learned early that getting chores done quickly means more time for the fun stuff.  But things like school projects--papers and stuff with a deadline--I'll work up to the wire.  I always claimed to work well under pressure.  And then there is the stuff that doesn't really have a deadline but still need to be done eventually.  Those things are really easy to procrastinate.
The thing I've been procrastinating on the most recently is taking away the pacifier from Bruiser.  I should have done it months ago.  But he just started to sleep well and heaven knows I didn't want to screw that up.  Mom is partial to her sleep.  However, the time has come.  And just when I decide to make this weekend the weekend, Bruiser gets sick.  And very attached to his Suckie.
I may have to sabotage the darn things.  Because this kid is seriously attached.  Really, he has only been getting it for naptime and night time.  And I know he has slept without it but...

If I'm a raging, sleep deprived lunatic on Monday, you'll know why.

I'm linking with Shell's Pour Your Heart Out, even if this is not really deep and meaningful--I'm scared of what this weekend will bring.

  1. Yeah I am a terrible procrastinator, always afraid that whatever I am putting off will be oh-so terrible. However, I find that it usually is NOT and it's actually easier. And then I feel relieved!

  2. I'm also a procrastinator, but I really do work better under pressure.

Good luck with the pacifier. As a child who was totally attached to them, I just wanted to say that I gave mine up (all on my own...and all 11 of them...YES, 11 of them) when I was almost four. And no, I never needed braces.

  4. I'm so glad Jellybean is pretty ambivalent about his pacifier. He'll take one in the car if he is screaming and we hold it in his mouth but he luckily isn't attached to it.

    Good luck!

  8. Thankfully, neither one of my girls ever got real attached to a pacifier. They preferred their thumbs a lot more! Wishing you lots of luck in getting Bruiser to break the habit...I know it can't be easy.

  9. My kids were thumb suckers. The disadvantage to that is I can't take their thumbs away. Good luck!

  10. I'm a horrible procrastinator too. Sometimes it works out ok, other times not so much.

    Good luck with the pacifier!!

  11. Same here, absolutely the same way. Mine was a thumb sucker so no ideas on that front, just best wishes.

  12. The older I get, the more I procrastinate. I didn't when I was younger. I think I've realized some things are okay if they don't get done right away. BTW, I just grabbed your button and put it on my blog.
