Promise Time--2013

So for the last couple of years I skipped the resolution stuff and went with promises to myself.  Resolutions never really worked for me--they are grand and I never really kept them at all.  Making promises to myself seemed the better way to go.  I kept most of them last year and it's time to make new ones.
Promises for 2013:

  • Once it's warm enough, I promise to start running again.  I'm not a huge fan of running but it does help to have some activity. And running is something I can do right outside my front door.
  • I want to (again) work on the scrap booking hobby I have really let slide.  This has been on my promise list for the last two years.  This year I will definitely get to it, I have a place (almost) set up so I can scrap.  Now to get the motivation and time to coincide.
  • I want to get out camping at least once a month from June to August--preferably twice a month.
  • I promise to try one new recipe a month.  This also includes continuing to menu plan.  Incorporating new recipes is fun and it mixes things up.
  • I promise to be more positive, optimistic and go with the flow with my boys.
  • I promise to read more--having the Kindle has been wonderful, but I need to make more time to read--for my well being.  It makes me a better person to be around and when I'm happy, everyone is happier.
  • I promise to crochet a blanket.  I want one for myself and it's a good skill to acquire.
So there you have it, my promises.  Now to see if I can keep them.  I've had much better luck with the promises.  Have you made resolutions?  If not, give promises a try. They are easier than resolutions.  Go easy on yourself in 2013.
And this qualifies for the Spin Cycle. Go see Gretchen for more New Year promise/mission spins, NOT Resolutions.

  1. For me, it's "goals" instead of resolutions, but I think these are some pretty great promises!

  3. I am with you on the reading more thing. I've always been such a reader, but I suddenly just don't have the time. Well, I have the time, but I seem to piddle it away on the computer!

Hey, do you want me to link this to this week's Spin Cycle? I've gone with "Missions" for the new year because I hate "resolutions", but your spin could be "promises". Let me know and I'll hook you up.

  4. Hey, me and you could scrapbook together! If we lived closer. And if I was not so lazy that I could actually get my stuff out. And set it up. And print pictures off. And figure out some layouts.

  5. Also I could teach you to crochet. :)
Are we friends on GoodReads? Do you do GoodReads?

  6. Lots of good promises. I had a friend that tried a new recipe every day most of her adult life. Good luck!

  8. I'm going to try to make one new recipe per week in January. I hope I can manage it!

Great list of goals, and I think they are very realistic, worthwhile ones.

  9. I love scrapbooking! I have no room for it, however, and have taken on a lot of other hobbies that have pushed scrapbooking out of the way. But I still love it!

Good luck with your promises to yourself!
