Liebster Love

I've been awarded the Liebster Award from Jo over at Will The Kids Turn Out OK?  And then Jill from Jill's World gave out the award to any one who wanted it.  I think this is like the second or third time I've gotten this award, even though I don't exactly meet the criteria.  It's so nice to be loved.
I'm supposed to share 11 things about me and then answer 11 questions and create 11 questions and also give the award to 11 other bloggers.  I'm breaking the rules.  I'm going to answer the questions from Jo and the questions from Jill.  I will come up with 11 questions, but any one can answer and claim the award for themselves.
So here are Jo's questions:
  1. What would you name the autobiography of your life?  The Follies of Vandy.  I like to think I can look back and laugh at the mistakes and bumbles I've made, and laugh at the truly good moments too.
  2. Do you have any strange habits? I tie knots in my hair.  I twist it around my fingers and sometimes tie knots I can't undo.  It's something I've done since I was little. Bruiser plays with his hair too.
  3. What story does your family always tell about you? The time I crawled into the new pastor's lap and told him to kiss my butt.  I was three.  There is a long back story, but needless to say there was a lot of explaining done that day.
  4. Who were you named after? If no one, do you know how your parents picked your name? I was not named after anyone real, but my father had a science fiction short story he really liked with the name Vandy in it.  He insisted that if he had a daughter her name would be Vandy.
  5. If you had to name yourself would you chose the same name(s) … if no what would you pick? This has changed over time.  When I was in middle and high school I would have changed it in a heart beat, but when I got to college it was rather nice have a unique name.  Now it's me, so no I wouldn't change it.
  6. Do you want to know what is going to happen in your future? No not really.  I'd end up screwing it up if I knew, cause I'd try to change it.
  7. How do you have your eggs? Scrambled unless I'm making a fried egg sandwich--then over medium to hard.
  8. Do you sing in the shower? Not unless the radio is playing.
  9. Do you suck or bite lollipops? I suck on them. Biting them hurts my teeth.
  10. Are you related or distantly related to anyone famous? Nope.
  11. If you were exiled what country would you choose as your new home? New Zealand.  Or maybe Canada. The customs would be easy to adapt to.
Here are Jill's questions:

  1. You are given a free round-trip ticket to go anywhere in the world for one week. Where do you choose to go? Australia, or maybe New Zealand.
  2. What is your biggest fear? Bugs and spiders.
  3. Poker, Euchre, or other? (if other, tell me what your game of choice is!) Other, cribbage.  I'm not the greatest with card games.
  4. What is the one TV show you can’t miss, and can’t wait to watch each week? I try to watch The Big Bang Theory.
  5. Is there a book you love, and have read over and over? If so, which one is it?  I have so many of these.  The Fairy Godmother by Mercedes Lackey, anything by David Eddings, Nora Roberts books, Amanda Quick, the list goes on and on and on...
  6. People magazine has given you the almighty power: YOU get to choose the Sexiest Man Alive. Who do you pick? (if you’re a boy – you get to pick a woman, if you want. ;))  I'd have to chose Matt Damon.  What? I think he's cute, but I have absolutely nothing against the choice of Channing Tatum.
  7. What’s your favourite scary movie?  I don't like scary movies, the closest I can get is perhaps The Nightmare Before Christmas.
  8. You’re invited to a party and told to bring your “signature dish” – what do you bring? (bonus points for a recipe!)  Oh boy, not sure I have a signature dish--it really depends on the party and what is requested.  I have a great shrimp pasta salad, a wonderful greek cole slaw, a decent chicken cordon bleu, make a mean sausage and lentil soup, the possibilities are endless.
  9. What was the #1 item on your Christmas Wish List this year? Alton Brown's Cookbook The Later Years (and I got it and have made three different recipes from it..
  10. If you could see any singer or band in the world, which would you choose?  I'd like to see a Def Leppard concert--the big arena kind, as for singer, maybe Jason Aldean.
  11. They’re going to name a pizza after you, and you get to pick the toppings – what are you putting on your pizza and what are you going to call it? Sausage, pepperoni, ham, mushrooms, olives, plenty of cheese.  Named the Vander's Pie.
  12. Bonus question: I just have to ask, in honour of Breaking Dawn Part 2 tomorrow night. Team Edward or Team Jacob? Team neither.  I am not involved in the whole Twilight thing.  I like my vampires all grown up and not so sparkly.
And here are 11 questions for whomever wants them--answer in the comments or on your blog, just let me know so I can come see your answers.
  1. Do you like snow?
  2. What is your favorite part of the holidays?
  3. What is you running late need dinner on the table go to dish?
  4.  What is you favorite eating out food?
  5. What is the most recent movie you watched?
  6. What is you favorite time waster on the internet--outside of Facebook and Twitter?
  7. What is your favorite outdoor activity?
  8. Do you enjoy holiday shopping or just shopping in general?
  9. What is you favorite TAB (Tasty Adult Beverage)?
  10. Do you exercise regularly? What do you do?
  11. If you were granted the ability to have one household chore done at the snap of your fingers, what would it be?
Now go forth and enjoy the Liebster award!
P.S. I'm way way way late with posting this, so if some of the questions look a bit odd, it's because most of these were asked before Thanksgiving.  Those pesky holidays really get in the way sometimes.
