Random musings

Random time again.  Comes around every week, but somehow it always surprises me.  So here goes the random.
  • I like to cook, most days.  The guys like to eat.  Most days.  Except Bruiser, the original picky child.  Honestly the boy has been picky since he first tasted solid food and decided that nope, he didn't really want to eat that.  As far as food is concerned he eats what a typical toddler eats:  Chicken sticks, fish   sticks, corn dogs, cheese, goldfish, chips, cookies, the occasional biscuit or roll, and bits of meat from my plate.  On occasion he will eat peeled and sliced apples and raisins.  He won't touch milk (except on cereal), doesn't really like apple juice.  And he won't even taste most foods I cook.  I spend a lot of time coaxing him to eat dinner and telling him that there are no other options.  It usually doesn't work.  Amazingly the boy continues to grow.  It's a wonder that he does.
  • The Allstate commercials with the Mayhem Guy are just a bit creepy.  OK, a lot creepy.
  • Nick's adventures in beer making are going well.  We should be bottling his third batch tomorrow.  It kind of fun and as soon as he gets the method down we can start experimenting a bit.
  • Jackie Chan movies are getting a lot of air time around here.  Turbo just discovered them.
  • What is it with all the 80s remakes?  Is it just that there are no new ideas out there?
  • Bruiser is sick today, so I get an unexpected day home.  Poor kid has thrown out (Yeah, Jen that caught on here too) three times.  He is doing a fabulous imitation of a lump on the couch.  A prime indicator that he does not feel good.
  • Next weekend is Bruiser's birthday.  He turns three.  Where has the time gone?
Well that covers my Random ramblings for today.  Go see Stacy of Stacy Uncorked for more Random.
And don't forget the link up with no rules Talk To Us Tuesday over with Shawn and Impulsive Addict.

  1. My son is into Kung Fu movies lately too; some of Chan's older ones are really good!

  2. The Legend of Drunken Master is one of my favorite movies! Jackie Chan rocks.

Sorry about the food issues. Indy will eat freaking anything. Seriously. Even the green things most kids don't like. His favorite green food is broccoli sprouts. Know what his favorite food in the whole world is? Escargot. That's right, my 9 year old loves to eat snails.

I watched (the original) Footloose the other day and have to say it is a big old slice of early 80's awesome. I haven't seen the new one. I can't imagine how they could have improved on Kevin Bacon's "Let Dance!"
There do seem to be a lot of 80's remakes, but if they remake 16 Candles or Pretty in Pink, I will riot. I'm kind of looking forward to the 21 Jump Street movie. Mostly because my beloved Johnny Depp (yes, I am the reason his relationship is breaking up) is supposed to make a cameo appearance. :)

    Happy RTT.

Just wait til Bruiser gets older, he will eat everything you own. my brother went through a growth spurt growing up and he was always eating!

  6. I want to try Nick's beer! It's making me salivate. You know I haven't had a drop of alcohol in 24 days, right?

Jackie Chan movies are just ok. I'm not a huge fan.

I'm sorry Bruiser is sick. I hate when my baby is sick.

    Thanks for linking up!! xoxo

  7. I love Jackie Chan movies!!!

Kids are seriously picky. My daughter was like that too. She's 12 now and eats MUCH better than she did. It's a long process but they eventually figure out that food will not kill them AND tastes good. LOL

  8. I love the mayhem guy. when he's a 16 yr old girl and the streaker. it's just too funny.
I think that all the remakes are becuz the creativity has gone outta Hollywood and they cant come up with anything except potty humor or devirgining someone or a slasher movie. so they redo the good ones. Redo the bad ones and make them better.

  9. Princess Nagger is an extremely picky eater - but she'll at least try something when I insist on it...unlike Little Dude who goes all Drama King on me when he takes a bite and shivers like it's the most vile thing, or holds his nose and proclaims "It stinks!" (like he did the other day for my beef stew...which smelled heavenly, and even Princess Nagger had seconds). It took him FOREVER to finish his dinner that night - though after it had grown cold he finally acquiesced and said "Mmmm! Yummy!" halfway through. Dork. :)

    That Mayhem Guy is creepy.

Too cool that Nick's adventures in beer making are going well - sounds like he's having as much fun with that as I am with my winemaking. :)

Awww! Sorry about Bruiser - hope he feels better soon!

I hope the sickness is gone by now! Or will be soon!

Time does go by way too fast - my baby turned 5 this past fall. I can't even stand it.

  12. My littlest eats pancakes & pizza lunchables as her staples. LOL. Ehhh what are ya gonna do, they have to eat right.

  13. Jackie Chan is great. Check out The Spy Next Door, if you haven't already. It's on NetFlix, if you have that. I'm with you the AllState Commericals with Mayhem can be a bit creepy. I really do not like them. Thanks for the random. Have a good week!

  14. Oh... Hope he feels better soon!!

My 3 year old won't eat much of anything unless sugar is the #1 ingredient. He is the size of a 2 y/o and has always been small. I didn't even take him to his 3 y/o check up this year b/c I didn't want to be lectured again about his weight. He IS growing though, and nor my hubbs or myself are big people. If he wasn't my 4th, I would be worried sick. But, he is, so I know he will be just fine!! :)
