WWTK--Money, Money, Money

So Mamarazzi is asking all about money this week:
{1} What is something that you currently spend money on that you consider a splurge or frivolous?  My weekly GNOs are a bit of a splurge. Necessary, but splurgy none the less.
{2} Tell us about your first paying job. How old were you?  Well there was babysitting, but somehow I don't think that's what's meant.  My first real hourly paying job was working at the snack bar at the local outdoor pool the summer I was 15.  The church youth group ran it and I worked there three or four days a week that summer.  The next paying job I had was the following summer at the same pool as a lifeguard.
{3} Do you plan date nights and extras into a monthly/weekly budget?  We try to plan for a few extras but don't get that much time to go without the boys, so we don't do it that often.
{4} Share one of your money saving tips with us.  Always take a list to the grocery store, don't try to wing it.  And never send a man to the store without a detailed list.
And finally, Christine @ http://cmgendreau.blogspot.com wants to know:
{5} If you won the lottery - would you spend it frivolously or use what you need and save the rest? Why?  It would depend on how much I won.  Let's go with millions.  I'd pay off the credit cards and then invest and then I think Nick and I would travel, but still keep our jobs--you've gotta keep yourself grounded.  Nick would want to buy a bugger house and I'd want a shopping spree of some sort.  Mostly we'd do a bit of both, spend, but then save the rest and try to use it wisely.  We don't want to burn through it in no time and be broke again.

Now go see how everyone else does with money and visit Mamarazzi and Crazymama.

  1. My husband is far better as shopping than me. I always forget to pick up something from the grocery store, even when I have a list. He always gets everything on the list plus all the things I forgot to put on the list.

  2. My husband hates to go to the store as it is but if I do send him, he comes home with all kinds of weird things I didn't need.

  3. my husband never shops, but when he does he buys lots of pudding and jello packs and then the kids spill them around and it makes me crazy. i'd rather do all the shopping than see what he brings home.

Gno is a fabulous splurge. i do weekly lunch dates with my lady friends. it's a sanity saver and the kids get to play.

love that you need to stay grounded. i'd spend and save too.

  4. There is not enough money in our checking account to send my husband shopping by himself, plus I don't think the store stocks that many bags of Fritos. The man has a real addiction.
