Random Randomness

time to throw all the random thought floating around in your head together and call it a post.  It's one of the things that Tuesday is good for.

  • I made granola last night.  It's not hard and tastes so much better than the store bought stuff.  The store bought stuff gets so sweet.  I'm much happier making it, even if it does take some time.
  • Full Metal Jousting.  I saw this on History Channel last night.  I did not watch any more than the opening credits.  It looks ridiculous.   Really?  Full Metal Jousting?
  • Nick got hit by a minor bug yesterday and stayed home.  He got to chase Bruiser around and do the lunch negotiation, nap decree, and potty policing.  Lucky him.
  • On the potty front, things are going slowly.  Sometimes Bruiser gets it and sometimes he doesn't.  He keeps saying he doesn't want to be a big kid.  It is an uphill battle with him.
  • Exactly how do you explain to an 8 year old that giving away his toys is not the best thing to do?  Turbo has a friend that is a year older than he is.  This friend keeps trying to get Turbo to "loan" him some of Turbo's cooler toys.  Not the best way to share.  I can see those toys never coming back.  We have stopped that from happening so far.  And had a talk with him about how it's maybe not the best idea.  I just hope some of it sank in.
  • Valentine's Day.  Isn't is funny how after you have kids, Valentines day becomes more about getting them the cards and treats for school than doing romantic things with your significant other?  I managed to get Nick a cards and we are heading out to lunch, I know not where, but that's about it.  There's just not time to do all things romantic.  It's never been a day that really goes all romantic anyway.  We just aren't good at romance.  One Valentine's day we hit every restaurant in town and they were of course all full.  I think we ended up eating at home because it was just nuts out there.  So yeah, Happy Valentine's day and I hope it meets all your romantic dreams.  Or something like that.

  1. We're in the same boat for today; we've both been sick so who wants to do anything romantic??

  2. Thats so true about after having the kiddos. I was just thinking about that, in fact. -- busy getting the cards, filling them out, creating the "box" they go in... Shew!

  4. Homemade granola is the best, isn't it? I much prefer it over store bought. I haven't made it in a while, think it's time! :)

Full Metal Jousting? That just sounds crazy.

Seems everyone is getting hit by bugs lately! Hope everyone is feeling better soon.

Princess Nagger had that same situation Turbo is having with the 'friend' wanting toys 'loaned' to them. I think I convinced her that it's not such a great idea, especially toys she loves and doesn't want to ultimately lose. I did commend her for her generous nature, though. ;)

We gave up going out to eat on Valentine's Day years ago - not so much fun having to wait hours for a table in a crowded restaurant. We started a tradition of ordering from our favorite Italian place down the road and eating in - so much more cozy...and I suppose could be more romantic in its own way. ;)

    Happy Valentine's Day! :)

  5. Maybe Turbo should try it out on his friend, ask to borrow a cool toy, then watch the friend deal with his own conscience.

  6. I may want your recipe for granola. I would rather make my own too. Of course, I can't eat it right now but I WILL soon enough.

Potty training is the hardest thing about being a parent thus far. Poo'ing is still an issue. She doesn't mind going poo on the potty but she doesn't tell us in time. Ugh. Today we're heading to Texas. A nice 4 hour drive in the car. I wonder how potty training will go now?

Thanks for linking up with us! xoxo

  7. I'm not big on celebrating Valentine's Day so we are doing dinner tomorrow...I don't like crowds.
I went thru the same thing with my kids and friends wanting to borrow toys...I never let them.

  8. I love random thoughts, you learn quite a bit in a short amount of time. And some of it is good to get out/share, but doesn't really warrant an entire post :).

    Happy Valentine's Day :)

  12. Wow, what a lil stinker trying to score new toys. Hopefully he never does! Good for you guys for nipping it.

This day is a lot like New Year's Eve. It gets built up and so it's always a let down. I figure any bit of quality time is romantic in my book. :-)

  15. Valentines Day is all about the girls at our house. We're hopefully teaching them that they do not need a man to know that they are important, valued and loved.

Thanks for linking up with us, you know we xoxo you!

  16. The 3 y.o. I nanny is a piece of work and I try using the "you're a big boy" or "you're not a baby" and it backfires 80% of the time. Damn kids! Best of luck with your potty training :)
