Monday Thinking and MMMM

So after a fairly quiet weekend, here I am back a the grind. Well, it not much of a grind, but I really would rather be home on this rainy Monday curled up on my couch with a cup of warm tea and a good book.
Turbo has read four books in a series and he is eagerly awaiting the fifth book.  Such a turn around for my reading phobic boy.  I guess it really is all about finding the right story to grab someone and get them reading.  He even stayed up late reading this weekend. Sigh, makes my reading heart feel so good.
We had a wonderful Saturday evening cook out with friends--burgers on the grill, so good.  We even had sunshine for the day.  Remarkable considering that it was university graduation and for the last few years we have had snow.
It was mostly a lazy weekend for us.  I did get Turbo's clothes sorted and all the too small stuff put away for his brother to grow into. Spring cleaning is happening in fits and starts. If the weather cooperates next weekend it will be laundry and car detailing. Got to get the vehicles ready for summer road trips.

And now for MMMM:  Freebie week so lets see what hit our fancy:
Zac Brown Band with Castaway:

Brad Paisley with Demi Lovato with Without a Fight:

 Keith Urban with Wasted Time:

Have a good week all!

Random Meanderings

Things have been pretty quiet around here.  The weather has been swinging toward winter rather than spring.  Oh, Mother Nature has been teasing us with the occasional nice day then lets winter out to play again.  We got 4-5 inches of snow this weekend. Fun times, fun times.
Now on to the random:
  • For the first time in months, I have all the laundry done at the same time.  It's even 99% put away.  I have a basket of sheets, folded, that need to go in the window seat in Bruiser's room, but everything else is folded and put away. I'm going to bask in this for the 5 minutes it lasts.
  • Bruiser caught a stomach bug yesterday.  He really wasn't thrilled with it.  Poor kid couldn't keep anything down until after lunch.  He got rather good at dashing to the toilet though. He's much better today. He has to feel better, he doesn't want to miss the field trip this week at school.  It's a big one out of town and everything.
  • We should have fairly decent weather this weekend--for Saturday at least.  We will be getting our BBQ on.  Or at least the grill will be going and we will be hanging outside with friends.
  • Our town will suddenly become a peaceful, quiet little town this weekend.  It's finals week and then graduation at the university and that means all the students will be gone until fall. Parking will be awesome, far fewer crowds at the grocery store, and going out to have a drink will be easier too. Love our town in the summer.
  • The insomnia fairy keeps on visiting.  I think she has totally over stayed her allotted visiting time.  She just won't leave though.  Sleep will come back eventually, right?
  • We upgraded phones and changed carriers.  Turbo also has a smarty phone now.  He is totally entranced with it.  Happy early birthday kiddo.
Have a great week and link up your own random thoughts!

Hey, Hey, Monday!

We just had the most lazy weekend ever.  I accomplished next to nothing.  The weather helped as it snowed all day Saturday. So we didn't really do anything at all.
The grass is green and the tulips are trying to grow.  It keeps up the snow thing and we may not get all that many flowers.
This made me laugh:
Wyoming’s Groundhog was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound after predicting an early spring... lying little bastard!
And this is truly our feelings right about now:
Yeah, really ready for our blink you miss it spring and then straight on to summer...

ANd now for MMMM.  It's a freebie week so here goes:

Dreary Monday

Yes, it's rather dreary here today.  We also have snow predicted for tomorrow.  Still not much with the spring weather, winter is still hanging on by it's fingertips.
This weekend was a whole lot of getting not a lot done.  I accomplished the laundry--minus the towels.  Those I'll do tonight, I think. I did hit the second hand store and picked up some cute shirts for when the warm weather actually arrives for more than a tease.

Nick has a conference he's heading out to.  I alsmost went with him, but real life reared it's crazy head and I am staying home to shuttle dentist appointments, school drop off and generally be mom.  Fun, no?!

And now for MMMM.  This week the theme is 80s/90s music, but lesser know songs from your favorite artists.
The late 80's/early 90's was my high school years.  I listened to hair bands and rock music.  Let's see what I can come up with:
Bon Jovi with 99 in the Shade:

Poison with Cry Tough:

Mötley Crüe with Same Ol' Situation:

There you go, three hair bands I listened to and some of the not hits that were on the tapes and CDs I wore out.

Have a great week!

Snow and MMMM

Much like last year at this time, we have a foot of snow on the ground.
One year ago, 2015.

Yesterday

Again, yesterday.
Mother nature decided to deal with what ever hot flash she had by opening the freezer and dumping snow on us. And then she will get all warm again by Friday.  I'm not so much a fan of "spring" weather.

And now for MMMM:  Freebie week!
Drake White with Livin' the Dream

Carrie Underwood with Church Bells:

Brandy Clark with Girl Next Door:
Have a great Week! We will be melting off Mother Nature's latest chilling efforts.

Spotlight Monday MMMM

OK, so this last weekend was fun and lots of relaxing, even if I got the laundry done.  Go me!

Friday night we watched Star Wars: The Force Awakens with our cousins.  We had pizza and enjoyed the movie.  It was lots of fun seeing Nick see it for the first time.

Saturday I had a nasty migraine, but managed to get a good start on the laundry despite the need for a dark room and no loud noises. Sunday was better and I even got the laundry folded and put away.  I'm not mentioning the baskets of sheets and towels that need folding.  La la la, I can't hear them yelling at me.

Oh, how I wish there was a machine that folded...

Now on to MMMM.  I was Spotlight dancer and got to choose the theme, so here you go:
Pick your theme song or soundtrack:

Relax and MMMM

So this past weekend we did nothing too exciting and just really relaxed.

So yeah, I could use more weekend.  Nick got the trim around the wood stove where the tile meets the new laminate floor finished on Saturday--with only two trips to the hardware store. Most of our projects take three or more trips, so this one went pretty smoothly.
Me, myself and I did next to nothing other than grocery shopping and washing towels.  I did get both boys sheets changed.
Nick found a good biscuit recipe.  Biscuits are the one thing I failed at making at our high altitude. 7200 feet makes baking anything a challenge.  Nick found a recipe on line for high altitude and it turned out to be quite tasty.

And now for a freebie week at MMMM:

Random Tuesday Musings

Hey, Hey, Hey!  We made it to Tuesday.  Let's get all random:
  • Our furnace has been a problem since the insurance company told us we needed to update the 1960s version the house came with. So, yes, it was old, but it worked.  The new one is really temperamental and we would much prefer if we had one that worked better. Example: Friday night the furnace stopped blowing hot air and Nick went to check on it.  There was a spark and the whole thing sort of went kaput.  Lovely.  We do have a wood stove for back up and luckily we still have wood to burn in it, so we cranked it up and at least had heat for the night.  Nick got his internet google hat on and spent time looking at other people's feelings about this model of furnace.  Not great reviews out there, but he did find a schematic that showed a small 3 amp fuse.  Nick found it and, sure enough it had blown.  We were able to get the furnace up and running again after a trip to Ace.  Once again, I love having a handy hubby!
  • I exercised 3 times last week and two of them were in the morning.  Now to keep it up this week. Can't say I like the mornings, but it does seem I am more consistent when I get up and do it in the morning.
  • This: Cause of geology reasons...

  •  Nick also get the picture printer running again.  This entailed ordering ink, setting up a stand and making sure the printer would talk to the computer.  That last one can be the most frustrating part.
  • I'm very good at this:

  •  Nick brewed a batch of beer Saturday.  He now has happy burping yeast turning it into something tasty.  It's going to be a grapefruit pale ale.  I'm almost looking forward to trying it, even if I'm not a huge pale ale fan.
Well that covers my random for the week.

Easter and An About Me MMMM

So we had Easter.  There was egg dying, egg hiding and hunting, chocolate bunnies and jelly beans.  There was a lovely brunch with Nick's folks.  Later, I made cornish game hens.  Those were a huge hit with the boys.  It was fun to eat a whole tiny chicken all by yourself.  Makes you fell a bit like a giant, or so Bruiser said.

Truthfully, I was tempted to do this for the egg hunt, we've had enough snow:
But the fun of egg dying won out for the kiddos.  This year I had help hiding the eggs though--Turbo asked of he could help hide eggs for Bruiser.  I let him help hide most of them, but I still hid a few so he could look for them too. The best one was hiding the orange egg with the oranges.

Now for the MMMM.  This week the challenge is to find 5 songs that are about me.  Here goes:

First up, Brad Paisley with Mud on the Tires.  We are all about finding the dirt road to bumble down, be it in the truck or on a four wheeler:

Next, Shania Twain with Forever and For Always.  This one is all about Nick and I.

Another Brad Paisley, Anything Like Me.  I am the mom of two boys.  Heaven help if they are anything like their father.  I love them anyway!

Next up Martina McBride This One's For the Girls:

And just for the fun: Frankie Ballard with Young and Crazy:
Have a great week!

Tuesday, Random Time?

So yeah, let's get all random up in here, or something like that:
  • We are still getting snow.  It really has been a snowy winter for us.  There are 5-9 inches predicted for us over the next 24 hours. This one will come with wind.  So spring blizzard.  It does make for better conditions in the mountains this summer.
  • My motivation seems to be coming in fits and starts.  I think I need to make the commitment to exercise in the morning before my shower. Not so much on the getting up early to exercise, but not finding the motivation to do it when I get home.  What with making dinner, guiding homework efforts and the siren call of the Kindle reading calling my name, exercising is easy to procrastinate on. So early morning looks to be the time again. Yuck.
  • THis:
  • And I really should get more organized about meals again.  I'm trying, but again the motivation hasn't come back for the summer yet, it's still hiding from winter.
  • Like this rock:
  • It almost time for a girl get together, although I had a fun night of wine and coloring with a  friend this weekend.  I'm thinking that getting together and having drinks and dinner is needed here soon.
Have a good week all!
